RABBITS EXPOSITION BY MAROUN YOUNAN 9.2

The rabbit is an entertaining and extraordinary picture book created by John Marsden and Shaun tan. It relieves and has themes such as the lost of culture, the effect on colonizing and their family relationships. The book represents three techniques, which are representational, interactive and compositional frameworks, and each one has a different meaning and symbolizes something different.

Firstly I will talk to you about the lost of culture and the representational framework. They should not be treated like this there lost of the culture was mainly destroyed and damaged when the white people come many were killed and starved of hunger and many young children were taken away from there family. The representational meaning in dps4 page 4 is a golden yellow ship that symbolizes power and they have more then others, and it says the white people are coming to cause trouble beware. The book symbolizes rabbits because of the amount we have here on earth and the Aboriginals symbolize Kangaroos because of there native and how long they have lived for. The vector lines in page 4 sow the curved and funny zig zag lines of the shape of the boat and it shows how the clouds were and how they are now with the vectors lines probably represent that they are about to arrive.  Now I will talk to you about the interactive framework and the effect on colonizing. The effect it had was many children were taken away from the family and things started to break up with their lives and because of the white people. While in dps4 page 4 when you first gaze at the image the moment you turn the page you picture a big ship by the modality and the power the composer has made an effect to it. The picture in dps4 page four has been taken from a medium to a high angle shot and the angle it is taken from has an effect on the rabbits the most because of them standing on the ship.  Finally I will talk to you about their family relationships and the compositional framework. There relationships at first was good and everyone in the tribes were a community while when the white people come everything changed and they took over their land. When you first look at the picture like I said the ship stands out the most and you feel from the moment the background changes and the including the water sky and clouds there is going to be dramatic trouble and by looking at the picture the composer has made it easy for people to know what is going to happen next. Going back to the first paragraph the Rabbits should have not taken over the aboriginals land and the meaning or sense it shows to people is how things changed from when they are free and now how they are not free. The message of the Rabbits book is telling or emphasizing to us how the Aboriginals lived in freedom and its not fare the whit people have coming and took over their land and trying to change there culture and believes into white people as in half castes.  The picture I chose in dps4 creates a meaning throughout the book by the frameworks and it shows a meaning by the modality throughout the book not just the page I chose and how it is set out by the composer creating or attracting people to picture what is going to happen. The book the rabbit is set out such as real life but the director or who wrote the book basically made people think smarter on who represents what and what they are talking about in the book.

Discuss what the meaning of the book is- What is the message:  The message in the rabbits book is saying like how the aboriginal use to live there life and when the White people come or the europeans things started to change as in things were diffrent many Aboriginals started to dissapear and many children were taken away which is known as the stolen generation.
