JOURNAL ENTRY 6

  1. What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response.  The grade that I would allocate myself for this project I would have to be honest and say probably get a B or C it’s not that I have been not working my hardest but if feel I covered things quiet well but not so much excellent but I would love to get an A with the effort I put in for this project.
  2. What could you do tonight that would improve your grade? Tonight the thing that I could improve to get my grade higher is to check the most important thing the critique and group rubric to see the things that have been covered and what needs to be done or finalized.
  3. What grade do you think your team will give you for team work? Why? I feel that my team would give me an good mark for my team work because I feel that I have helped everybody in the group that has had trouble and tried to get the group switched on to complete this project, anyway I would give them a good mark because i feel not just myself has done the majority of work but everybody in the group had work evenly and chipped in and helped each other nearly every time.
  4. Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (Hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”? The things that I could do before Monday to score and grade of A are the following show more eye contact than usual, concentrate and probably no a couple of days before the presenting day on what I am going to say, and I also say that I have to address, what the catholic and the media think and the message to what this issue says to me.

Journal entry in class on Video watched

What does the video clip say to you? THis video to me is showing us that the media is portraying this clip morally right and to me this clip shows the religious values that each country or person follow in as a social group. To me this video also says that each country shown in the clip are proud of who they are and what country they come from and are true children of god.

what questions would you ask about the clip? During watching this clip the first answer i would ask is how the media itself is portraying or trying to send a message to people about this? Why is it showing every country? what aspects or parts of our project now has got to do with that? Why are the people happy and dancing?

Why was the clip shown at this time of the project? I think that the clip was shown to year nine student classes one and two at this time was to show them or give them a understanding of probably what true christian values or belief is about and i also think it was shown at the time to probably show them how the media or who every made this clip tryed to show how people loved there country and one another like God did.

Todays lesson 6.8.08

Today’s lesson the things that I have learnt was when looking at a picture and seeing someone in the streets I would of thought that they are differently poor but I have learnt living in the streets or in a comfortable home it does not matter but the things that matter is if you are happy in live and don’t worry if you are poor or rich. Looking that those picture the media to be was you can say tricky because they nothing away and in the first picture it felt that the family was poor and unhappy and in the second comfortable and relaxed but when getting the right facts it was the opposite which then made me think even more about myself and how the media is un reliable at times.

journal entry 5

·         What influences your values about issues relating to your life? The things that influence my values of issues relating to my life is my parents and people around me who care about me and the things that are going on out there in society and what life is all about.

·         Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not? Yes I do compare images presented by the media to those in the bible because I feel the society today was not like back then and more and more things are produced in this society than in the olden days and many more people now then use to are thinking about other things for example games and forgetting about god.

·         Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not? This project has challenged myself to examine my values because the things in society are changing and Media and reports are becoming big in this world to what is happening andwhat is not.

JOURNAL ENTRY 4

·         How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues? To me I feel that the media portrays social justice issues not so good because I believe that they do not let someone express there fair and equal rights but the media just wants to think about the issue differently to attract and sell more people attention into the media.

·         Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?No is not really been hard to find articles on social justice issues because in the media they mainly to me express more of a social justice issue rather than a ethical or un ethical issues.

Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research?I think that the media does operate from a moral framework because by researching the issue our group chose relating to the Zimbabwe election of Robert Mugbabe the artcles that we found on the issue were all relating to different facts and by seeing that I think the media sometimes or in many occasions don’t get the accurate facts got to do with the article and tend to operate other views of the story just to sell newspapers and make money.

Journal Entry 3

Describe what is a critique. Basically a critique is a essay or a article that is written in a critical evaluation.

2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique. The four stages in a critique are an introduction which lets the reader see your response to it, The summary of the article which is basically explaining or interpretating what it is about, Your analysis or critical commentary on the original text which is basically saying the positives and negatives of it and the evaluation and conclusion which is basically telling people what the article is trying to tell us and what you have learnt.

3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss. Yes to me a critique can be positive because it the persons choice if he wants his work that way and because it is a article and a essay they can decide, thats what i think.
